One day, while reading the Taber Times, we came across a news article about a drug bust at a local fourplex. The first thought that came to mind was: Does the landlord even know what’s happening at their building?

That question led to a search. A call to the town office provided the legal property description, and a stop at the registry office confirmed the land title details. With the owner’s name and mailing address in hand, the next step was an old-school approach—flipping open the phone book.

Two rings. Then a voice on the other end of the line: “Hello?”

We introduced ourselves and shared what we had read. The landlord had no idea what was going on at his property.
